Looming over the viewer, this large-scale painting demands an uncomfortable confrontation with the harsh realities of war: the innocent dies within the fat overlord's grasp, while the latter reins from the sky of smoke and ashes. With a restrained palette, I worked meticulously to conceal each brushstroke, resulting in a clean, flat image with solid color blocks and crisp edges. Yet, the well-orchestrated lines and shapes worked harmoniously to suggest depth and volume, weaving in and out, sometimes framing each other, while contrasting softness and hardness, stillness and motion.
